Darkest Hour is a movie about the early days of Winston Churchill as British Prime Minister and during the World War II, the beginning of Hitler’s planned invasion of Britain. During May 1940 France and Britain were partners in World War II against Nazi Germany. Prior to German assaults on Holland and Belgium, the British Opposition Labour Party in Parliament requested the resignation of then British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain because he was perceived as being too feeble to defend British national security. Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain indicated to his British Government Conservative Party advisors that he preferred Lord Halifax as his replacement; however Halifax was not interested to become the Prime Minister since he is a member of the upper House of Lords. Neville Chamberlain necessity chooses the alternative person whom all parties will support; the person was Winston Churchill, the First Lord of the Admiralty.
